What are your proposals for induction and opening up in September? Also will all pupils be at school full time?

Q:

A:

We have very recently received details from the DfE in respect of September. We are keen to ensure students have an opportunity to meet each other before the end of term where safely possible. We will return to you with further details as soon as we are able.

I wondered if school doesn’t start as planned in September- will there be provision for key workers? Thanks

Q:

Q:

A:

Currently, we have been fortunate to have enough staff able to provide provision for our key worker and vulnerable children. At this stage, we should be able to provide provision should it be necessary.

Would there be any possibility for new year 7 to have the opportunity to meet up in the holidays if people so wished social distance of course. Can the parents share our emails with each other via yourselves if they consent so we can organise? So that children not knowing anyone may recognise some faces when they start? Thanks

Q:

Owing to GDPR we are unable to provide contact details of others. However, we are aware there is a Facebook Group run by current parents. Please try this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/1667135576852937/?ref=share

Q:

What is your culture around LGBTQ+?

A:

We acknowledge and celebrate diversity. Staff are trained in the Equalities Act 2010 as plan curriculum to recognise the protected characteristics of our young people. Event happen throughout the year to open up dialogue and discussion, these include guest speakers and workshops. See the PSHE curriculum and Equalities group for more information. Accepted and supported if required.

Q:

Hello. Does homework tend to be paper based or will they need a laptop or similar?

A:

Homework will be a blend of styles. Some will be open ended projects, others on computers instilling skills. We also use homework for RARs - the way students read and respond to staffs comments to improve their learning. Later in the school year we will build up the skills for revising for progress tests.

Q:

When we looked around the school, there was a road that crossed the school campus that was accessible to the public. The teacher who showed us around said the school were trying to get that closed off. What's the current situation with this please? Thanks.

A:

College Square is not our land and therefore, open to the public. At this point in time, we have no information on this area being closed to the public during school hours.

Q:

A:

Do you teach any community languages e.g. Urdu or Somali?

Not at this stage, however, we are open to any willing staff /students to start a club for anyone interested.

Q:

A:

Do the children have the opportunity to attend school camps and DofE?

We run a year 7 annual camp and a successful DofE program, Bronze through to Gold to those who are interested.

Q:

A:

You mentioned having an interest in student travel to and from school. Can you elaborate? Are there school buses for example.

Students arrive at our school using public transport, cycling and walking. A small amount of students are dropped off by car as well. We do not offer a school bus as our students come from all over Bristol.

Seating plans are put together by staff, however, if there is an issue a solution will try to be found.
